how it connects

Void talks to a small helper on your Mac called voidd, which the free Void Mac app runs for you. It listens on 127.0.0.1 only and opens no port to the internet: it reaches out to the relay itself, and answers only the phones you paired. Nothing else to install: no VPN, no router settings, no account.

Your phone and your Mac find each other through Void's connection relay, a small service we run on Cloudflare. When you pair them, each device makes its own keys, and everything they say to each other is encrypted end to end with the Noise protocol. The relay only passes sealed bytes along: it sees that a phone and a Mac are connected, from which network addresses, when and how much, never what is said. If you already use Tailscale, Void works over your tailnet too.

Alerts also pass through us. A small relay forwards them to Apple, and the text of an alert is encrypted on your Mac, so the relay cannot read it. Turn the text off in Settings and an alert says only that a session needs you.

• An iPhone or iPad with iOS 26.
• A Mac with macOS 26 and the Void Mac app, free from this site.
• Claude Code or Codex in any terminal, to watch them. To type and approve from your phone too, run them in tmux or kitty.
• Your own Claude Code or Codex setup. Void controls them, it does not replace them.
• Nothing else: no Tailscale, no VPN, no router settings.
